In current scenario the youth of Pakistan are highly vulnerable to stress depression and anxiety.  Different extrinsic factors like poverty, social inequality, and emotional abuse among youngsters could increase stress, depression and anxiety. Stress and anxiety a life-threatening condition that can affect anyone. It’s no one’s fault. Your society and surrounding makes you vulnerable to stress.  It is has been reported that more than 35% Pakistani’s suffer acute and chronic stress, depression and anxiety.

Mental disorders and psychological problems still one of the biggest issue in Pakistan:

According to the doctors of Pakistan there is high prevalence rates of anxiety, depression, mental and behavioral disorders in the youth of Pakistan. All these issues are closely linked with mental health of our youth. Despite the shocking situations, common mental health related issues and psychological problems are one of the neglected subject in Pakistan. Depression and anxiety can affect anyone, however its intensity may vary differs from person to person and to what magnitude it occurs. Extreme depression may lead to auto death or suicidal attempts.  

Growing of Depression and Anxiety in our society:

Some of the major silent causes of stress and anxiety in today’s generation is excessive use of electronic gadgets, social media, pandemics, wars, pollution, population pressure, hot news, competitions, machines, disruptive sleeping cycle, unhealthy eating patterns, work load, poor management, fear and uncertainty, unrealistic expectations, drugs, lack of oxygen, financial problems and week family bounding.  In current days one of the top lethal precursor of anxiety is financial instability that lead to hopelessness and ultimately depression in educated and highly qualified youth.

Current Political anarchy might be the reason of chronic stress in the youth of Pakistan:

Current political crises, corruption, and incompetent politician in Pakistan is also one of the main source of depression. Injustice and non-neutral judicial system in Pakistan is further stimulate the ratio of stress, anxiety and depression. The youth of Pakistan feel unsecure about their future in current political situations. This further elevate the risk of stress and anxiety or ultimately make them hopeless.

Different techniques of stress management:

Stress and anxiety can be treated through a combination of psychotherapy, behavioral therapy, and medication. In some cases, a person can treat an anxiety disorder at home without clinical supervision. However, this may not be effective for chronic anxiety and depression. Exercises and relaxation techniques are good for shorter-term anxiety disorders, replace negative thoughts with positive ones, support network, physical exercise, counseling, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychotherapy and medication are an effective stress management strategies for chronic stress and depression. We could also manage anxiety with several types of medication like benzodiazepines, antidepressants and tricyclic’s.

How to overcome stress and anxiety?

There are various ways to reduce the intensity and risk of anxiety, stress and depression. Remember that anxious feelings are a natural factor of daily life, and experiencing those does not always indicate the presence of a mental health disorder. We can overcome the impact of anxiety through following actions:

  1. Reduce intake of caffeine, tea, carbonated drinks, and sugar.
  2. Maintain a healthy and balanced diet.
  3. Keep a regular sleep pattern.
  4. Avoid alcohol, cannabis, and other recreational drugs.
  5. Strong your belief on your God.
  6. Make family bonding strong.
  7. Stay with positive people.
  8. Read motivational books.
  9. Participate in motivational lectures seminars and workshops.
  10. Do exercises and sports
  11. Think positive, listen positive and do positive.
  12. Training and social grooming.
